The Four Stages of Osteoporosis

At AnnabellesTable, we have a couple of products that offer excellent defense against osteoporosis. The first is Osteo-Tea Bone Strengthening Herbal Blend. This tea blend contains stinging nettle, horsetail, oat straw, red clover, lemon, ginger & honey. Once oatstraw is ingested, it triggers the release of a luteinizing hormone that stimulates cell growth, making it effective in building bone strength. Red Clover isoflavones may slow bone loss and even boost bone mineral density in pre, peri and postmenopausal women.

The second product is Horsetail and Nettle Tincture. These two products offer a higher content of silica and other nutrient rich minerals that assist in nourishing bones, teeth, joints, cartilage, hair, nails, skin and blood vessels. Essentially, all structures with collagen will be supported by these herbs. Nettle in particular helps minimize hair breakage and thinning while also regenerating hair follicles. Nettle extract benefits the skin acting as a natural astringent, tightens and firms the skin, regulates natural sebum production, treats acne, promotes flawless skin, accelerates the healing process of wounds and burns, helps with skin allergies and eczema.

Another product that also works wonders with bone, tendons, muscles and cartilage is our Kint-Bone Comfrey Salve. This salve contains comfrey, St. John’s wort, lavender, arnica and frankincense. Comfrey contains allantoin, a substance that helps new skin, muscle, bone and cartilage cells grow, along with other substances that reduce inflammation. The arnica and St. John’s wort helps with bruising and/or pain.

Stage 1

The first stage in osteoporosis occurs when your bone loss and bone formation occur at the same rate, meaning you no longer make more bone than you’re losing. At this stage, there are no symptoms, and your bone density scores are above 1.

Stage 2

In stage two, you’ve entered the time when your bone loss is happening faster than your new bone can form. You still won’t have any symptoms, and your bone density scores may be lower, possibly indicating osteopenia, a precursor to osteoporosis, and your bone density is anywhere from 1 to 2.5.

Stage 3

Stage three is when you’re considered to have osteoporosis. In this stage, your bone loss far exceeds your bone growth, putting you at a higher risk for fractures. Unless you experience a fracture, you likely won’t have any other symptoms in this stage, except for a bone density of 2.5 or lower if you’re tested.

Stage 4

In this stage, your osteoporosis is very severe. Your risk of fractures is higher than in stage three, and you may actually have symptoms. The severe loss in stage four leads to changes in your spine, such as a stooped posture, and loss of height. You’ll likely have one or more fractures when you’ve entered stage four.
